First you have to understand that your online reputation matters. We live in a world today where everybody is googling everything especially before they buy or make a hiring decision. Once you understand how important that is, the next step is to to proactively manage it before you need it. Yes I said before you need it. You don’t want to be scrambling to manage your online reputation once you get a negative review or once you are hit with bad press over something.

It may not have happened yet but at any point, your business could potentially be subjected to bad reviews on the numerous review sites out there which could tank your business. On the flip side, having positive reviews will be a driver for sales and leads for your business.

According to a study by the Harvard Business Review after surveying thousands of businesses, they found out that the increase in revenue can be up to 9% for a 1-star increase in the company’s rating.

Two Berkeley economists, meanwhile, discovered that the tiniest Yelp rating change -- a half-star improvement -- makes it 30 to 49 percent more likely that a restaurant will sell out its seats during peak hours.

Simply put your online reputation matters. The first thing I want you to do is to Google your brand if you are a business and if you are an individual, simply Google your name. See what comes on the first page? Is it positive, negative or neutral. You want to have the positive ones show up on the first page rather than the 3rd page.
